We Offer Skilled Care Including Enhanced Physical Therapy
Skilled Care is a designation in the medical community for long or short term care for those who require a higher level of nursing attention. Thus, our Skilled Care Unit at James River Convalescent Center is for those patients who join us directly from the the hospital and who need more professional nursing or restorative therapy on a daily basis than they may be able to receive elsewhere.

Medicare Insurance Helps With The Costs
This is good news to our Skilled Care patients who meet the medical criteria. In most situations, Medicare or other insurance carriers may provide up to 100 days of Skilled Care per benefit period.

Skilled Care Also Includes Physical Therapy
Because our experience with Skilled Care has taught us much about the needs of our community, we now have developed a rehabilitation room at James River Convalescent Center equipped specifically for therapy and operated by our licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists.

What it means is that we can now accommodate those elderly patients coming from hospitals who may require physical therapy for recuperation from such problems as fractures, broken hips and rheumatic conditions. This added service is instrumental in helping a number of our rehabilitative Skilled Care patients return to their own homes much sooner.
